Amie Gonser

Originally from south Louisiana, Amie Gonser now lives and teaches art in Round Rock, Texas.  Amie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Louisiana, Lafayette and a Master of Fine Arts from Florida State University. After taking a plein air workshop in Taos, New Mexico in July of 2015, Amie fell in love with painting outdoors. Plein air painting combines her lifelong love and appreciation for nature, with her passion for painting. 

Amie is very active in the local art community. She has shown work in several group exhibitions in the Austin area including, The Downtowner Gallery, The Art Institute of Austin, Papi’s Pies, Jester Annex, Williamson Museum and J Gallery. Amie has shown in several juried shows organized by Round Rock Arts. She participates in at least two plein air competitions a year. In the 2016 Burnet Festival, she was awarded “best of show” and received second place there in 2018.  She received a second place ribbon in the Buda Arts Festival in 2021 and an honorable mention award in 2022. Amie is the founder of Plein Air Round Rock, a meetup group in which members get together once a month to paint the Texas landscape. 

Amie continues to grow and evolve as a plein air artist everyday. She paints outdoors as often as she can and feels most alive and connected to the world around her, with the brush in her hand and the challenges of a new painting before her.
